Five men have been arrested after a man was shot and killed in Woolwich, east London in November 2012. All five men have been charged with murder and one of the men has also been charged with possessing a self-loading pump action smooth bore gun.

A woman was shot in the hand after she and her partner were involved in an argument with two men when their car was stopped at a junction in Luton, Bedfordshire. The shooters escaped on foot after what was not believed to be a random attack. The victim was left with shrapnel in her hand and police have appealed for witnesses.

A cash delivery driver sustained facial injuries during an armed attack on his lorry outside a supermarket in Epsom, Surrey. The victim was threatened with a suspected firearm and required medical treatment. Police discovered a car believed to be linked to the assault nearby and have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the violent robbery.

A number of employees were threatened by a masked man with a gun while they were waiting for a delivery outside a nightclub in Cambridge. The robber used the gun to steal cash from the premises and escaped on foot. No one was injured.

Over 5,000 shotgun cartridges of various gauges have been stolen from agricultural premises in Marchamley, Shropshire.

Eighteen bullets were found in a plastic bag under a tree in a park in Birmingham, West Midlands. The nine millimetre and .38 calibre ammunition were found as part of a wider investigation in the city.

Aaron Wilson has been jailed for 12 months for possessing a stun gun and 28 live bullets without a certificate at his home in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester. He was arrested after police came across an advert to buy the taser that he had posted on social networking site Facebook and searched his property where they found the gun and live ammunition.

Raymond Rowlett has been jailed for four years and been banned from driving for two years for pointing an imitation gun at a police officer who pursued him after he stole a moped from a pub in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. The officer discovered Rowlett hiding in some bushes and pointing the weapon at his head, but was able to use CS gas spray to overpower his assailant and arrest him.

Richard Sandison, 51, has been ordered to do 150 hours of community service after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a 1888 Bulldog pistol that was recovered by police from his former home in Bathgate, West Lothian. He was given the revolver with a bayonet by his grandfather as a teenager and kept it on display in his home. The judge ruled that, despite Sandison's knowledge of firearms regulations as a legal shotgun owner, his innocence as to the unlawfulness of the antique did constitute an exceptional circumstance which exempted him from the minimum five year sentence for possession of prohibited firearms.
