2013/2/2 Worcester News

Andrew Relf has been given a 12-month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work and a £200 fine for his involvement in a confrontation with another motorist in which he was believed to be armed with a gun in Malvern, Worcestershire.  Police were called after a member of the public witnessed dangerous driving by the two drivers and Relf threatened the other motorist with a heavy object with the appearance of a gun. 14 police cars were needed to stop the dispute and arrest Relf, before officers became aware that the object he been using to make threats was a heavy-duty torch.








2013/2/2 Solihull News

Momim Hassan, 17, and Tajwar Shah, 16, have been jailed for four and three-and-a-half years respectively for an attempted armed robbery of a jewellery shop in Edgware, north London. They smashed glass in the shop with a hammer and fired shots from a blank firing gun in the store when they were confronted by a female employee. Other members of a staff and witnesses were able to chase the pair out the premises, and although the pair fired the gun at their pursuers, they were eventually detained in a car park where they were arrested by police. The teenagers were also found to be in possession of a stun gun and the keys to a vehicle with false number plates.


2013/2/2 Liverpool Echo

Shots were fired at a residential property in St Helens, Merseyside. No one was hurt but the building was damaged by bullets from the firearm. Two males, aged 15 and 24, were arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed.



2013/2/1 Shropshire Star

Adam Jones, 46, has been jailed for three years for possession of a stun gun disguised as a mobile phone at his home in Malinslee, Shropshire. His sentence was reduced from the mandatory five-year term, despite a history of offences which included the possession of offensive weapons, because Jones was not in possession of the charger necessary to use the weapon.




2013/2/1 Times & Star

Stuart Armstrong, 52, has been placed under a year of probation supervision, ordered to pay court costs, and had his airgun destroyed after pleading guilty to using it to threaten two workmen outside his home in Whitehaven, Cumbria. Armstrong swore at the men and pointed a .22 air rifle at them from an upstairs window after the noise of their hedge-cutting woke him up. Armed officers were deployed when the victims reported to police that they were afraid of being shot, but Armstrong claimed to have being pointing a fishing rod at the men. Armstrong was arrested and the gun was later found hidden behind a wall.




2013/2/1 This is Local London

Dwayne Fulgence, 28, has been found guilty of murdering a man and possessing the firearm and ammunition used in the shooting in Bellingham, South London. Fulgence shot the man after a dispute between the two, and his victim died the following day. Before the shooting, he had fired up to four shots through the door and letter box of his ex-girlfriend's home after she refused to let him in. Fulgence was later jailed for a minimum of 35 years (News Shopper, 4 February 2013).


2013/2/1 Ipswich Star

Five shotguns, shotgun cartridges, a digital camera, alcohol, and thousands of pounds of jewellery have been stolen in a burglary of a home in Sibton, Suffolk. Two men have been arrested and questioned about the break-in, one of whom has been charged with burglary and possession of firearms offences.


2013/2/1 The Northern Echo

Officers have begun an investigation after a man is thought to have fired shots at a pub in a residential area of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire. The building sustained damage to two windows but no one was injured. Police have appealed for information.





2013/2/1 This is Wiltshire

Firearms officers were despatched after a man with an air rifle was seen walking in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. The suspect was detained but no weapons were found and no threats were reported.



2013/2/1 South Wales Evening Post

Christopher Huddleston, 17, has been sentenced to three years in a young offenders' institution after pleading guilty to the possession of an illegal firearm and class C drugs at his grandmother's home in Swansea, West Glamorgan. The teenager stored the sawn-off shotgun under his bed for a drug dealer in an attempt to pay off a prescription drug debt. The illegal firearm was found after police received a tip off and carried out a search of the property.
