One of three youths allegedly shot a man in the face with an air pistol after they tried to sell him drugs on a street in Colchester, Essex. The man was attacked as he tried to walk away from the group, with the pellet hitting him between the mouth and the eye. No arrests have yet been made.

Armed police officers were deployed following a report of a man with a suspected imitation gun near a synagogue in Radlett, Hertfordshire. No suspects were located. While searching a property in Rotherham, South Yorkshire in connection with suspected drug supply, police officers recovered an illegal gun in a garden shed. A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a prohibited firearm.

Owen Walker, aged 20, has been jailed for seven years after admitting to several offences including possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a knife, possessing a psychoactive substance (nitrous oxide) with intent to supply and possessing cocaine, diamorphine and cannabis. Walker’s mother contacted police in December 2022 after finding a pistol in his bedroom at their home in Worcester, Worcestershire. Officers recovered the weapon along with a mobile phone that revealed messages linking Walker to drug dealing. While out on bail eight months later, Walker was arrested after being found carrying a knife, cash and cocaine. More drugs and weapons, including a knife, a machete and a mallet, were recovered from his home.

Derek Forbes, aged 49, has been made the subject of a four-month restriction of liberty order after pleading guilty to possessing two air rifles without weapons certificates. Following a tip-off, police officers called at Forbes’ home in Larbert, Scotland, where he admitted he kept two unlicensed air rifles, one behind a sofa and the other in a hall cupboard.

Following reports of gunfire on a street in Battersea, South London, police officers discovered a man had been shot in the chest. Despite emergency first aid, the victim died at the scene. Police have appealed for information.

During a raid at two addresses in Kettering, Northamptonshire, police officers seized a firearm and ammunition. A woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of an illegal firearm, while two women and a man were arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal ammunition.
