Armed police officers were deployed following reports of a man threatening another man with a firearm at a property in Chale Green, Isle of Wight. The officers seized an old rifle and arrested the suspect for making threats to kill and possessing a firearm without a certificate.

Counter Terrorism Policing officers have charged a teenage male from Portsmouth, Hampshire with attempting to manufacture a prohibited weapon, possession of a component part of a prohibited weapon and six counts of possession of a document or record containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism. Viet Nguyen, aged 32, has been handed a suspended eighteen-month sentence with a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 150 hours of unpaid work after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a bladed article, possession of an offensive weapon in a private dwelling and possession of a controlled substance, Class B cannabis. In June 2023, Nguyen pointed an imitation gun at a member of staff in a nail salon in Staines, Surrey. Nguyen was restrained by other staff members and arrested later that day.

Armed police officers were deployed following a shooting in Notting Hill, West London. A man was treated at the scene for gunshot wounds before being rushed to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening. No arrests have yet been reported.

After four men armed with weapons reportedly attempted to break into a property in Norwich, Norfolk, police officers arrested one suspect. A firearm, ammunition and cash were seized from his home address and he was subsequently charged with attempted aggravated burglary, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a firearm when prohibited for life, possession of criminal property, possession of a prohibited weapon (a firearm of length less than 30cm/60cm) and possession of prohibited ammunition.

A couple have told of their shock after a bullet smashed through the window of their house in Stornoway, Outer Hebrides. The woman heard an “exploding noise” as the bullet came through the living room window at head height. The man said that he suspects the bullet may have come from a rifle shot by deer stalkers hunting on the land nearby.

During a police raid at a property in Walsall, West Midlands, officers recovered a gun, ammunition and drugs. A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

One of a group of males on electric bikes allegedly fired a gun at a car in a carpark in Liverpool, Merseyside. No injuries were reported. A man has since been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life/enable another to do so.

Armed police officers were deployed after a man reportedly damaged a window with a hammer and threatened people with an imitation gun in Chadwell St Mary, Essex. Officers recovered the weapons along with a knife and a knuckle duster. The suspect has since being charged with harassment, criminal damage, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, possessing an imitation firearm and possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Kyle Simm, aged 39, has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years for possession of a firearm and ammunition. In September 2023, police officers stopped a taxi in Liverpool, Merseyside after noticing its passenger behaving suspiciously. When they tried to speak to him, Simm ran off and officers subsequently retrieved a bag from the vehicle that contained a 2.2 revolver, four 2.2 rounds of ammunition, more than £100 in cash and a bank card. Simm was arrested shortly afterwards.
