A man allegedly threatened staff with a gun at a shop in Charlton Kings, Gloucestershire before fleeing empty-handed. No one was injured. Police issued a description of the suspect and appealed for information. 

After patrol officers spotted a wanted man in Bradford, West Yorkshire, they discovered he was carrying a gun. He was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and robbery. The weapon was later found to be imitation.

Police raided a property in Wolverhampton, West Midlands and seized a gun, a knife, batons and cannabis. A teenage boy and a woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing weapons.

Police officers responded following reports of a disorder and a gun being fired in Coventry, West Midlands. One man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and possession of a knife. No one is believed to have been injured.

It has emerged that a teenage boy suffered life-changing injuries after he was shot in the head with an air rifle in New Longton, Lancashire in December 2023. The boy’s father described the incident as a “horrific freak accident” that resulted in a pellet entering his son's head before breaking into three segments. One part lodged in the centre of his brain, while another narrowly missed the part of the brain that controls motor functions. After emergency surgery, the boy was left with sight loss to his right eye and was unable to use his left leg. How the accident occurred has not been reported.

One man was fatally shot and another was seriously injured outside a pub in Edinburgh, Scotland just before midnight on New Year’s Eve. The attack is thought to be part of an ongoing gang feud, with the deceased being previously convicted of another gangland shooting. In videos made before his death, he taunted his rivals, calling them “chickens” and telling them to “come and get it”. The injured victim remains in a serious but stable condition. No arrests have yet been reported.

After a man was stabbed in Plumstead, East London, police officers recovered a BB gun near the scene. No arrests have yet been reported.

After police officers forensically searched a property in Illingworth, West Yorkshire as part of an investigation into firearms offences, a bomb squad was called in to destroy a suspicious object. Two people have since been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

John Bailey, aged 39, has been jailed for 26 months after admitting false imprisonment and possession of a prohibited firearm. In March 2023, Bailey lured one of his employees to his house in Station Town, Co. Durham. While another man kept watch outside, Bailey tied the man up and told him he wanted to discuss his dishonesty with money at work. During a two-hour ordeal, Bailey showed his victim a gun and ammunition, and called associates to discuss what they should do with him. The man was then driven home. After he contacted police a week later, officers discovered the gun at Bailey’s home. Tests proved it to be a prohibited firearm.

After searching a property in Metheringham, Lincolnshire, police officers arrested a man on suspicion of drug and firearms offences. Click on media link to read full report.
