A man from Morecambe, Lancashire has been charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, domestic violence and firearms offences following an investigation into incidents of significant violence. During searches of two addresses linked to the man, police officers recovered a stun gun.

Daniel Perry has received a prison term of 54 months, to be added to an existing ten-and-a-half-year custodial sentence, after pleading guilty to conspiring to supply cocaine and amphetamine, and conspiring to possess firearms with intent to endanger life. While on remand in November 2021 for his involvement in a £1million drug dealing operation in Redcar, North Yorkshire, a mobile phone was found in his prison cell. The device revealed messages showing that Perry had discussed obtaining a sawn-off shotgun and an AK47.

After a car linked to a wanted man failed to stop for police, officers recovered a loaded gun thrown from the vehicle. A second loaded gun was found during the subsequent search of a home in Lewisham, South London. Two men have since been arrested, one of whom was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition.

Wayne McKenzie, aged 48 and from Liverpool, Merseyside, has been jailed for 30 years after being convicted of being concerned in the evasion of a prohibition on the importation of firearms and cannabis, being concerned in the supply of cocaine and participating in the activities of an organised crime group, and having admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis and conspiracy to transfer criminal property. McKenzie was arrested by National Crime Agency personnel in February 2022 after the criminal messaging network, EncroChat, was decrypted. It was discovered that he was involved in the trafficking more than £2 million worth of drugs and had imported a shipment of guns into the UK hidden inside a vat of chemical waste. The firearms, some of which had been sourced from Yemen, were sold onto Albanian gangs.

Craig Howlett, aged 56, has been jailed for two years and three months after being found guilty of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, making a threat to kill and racially aggravated fear or provocation of violence. In August 2023, Howlett verbally abused a neighbour and threatened to cut his throat on a street in Canterbury, Kent. Shortly afterwards, Howlett confronted the man again, making racist comments while pointing a gun at him and threatening to blow his brains out. A five-year restraining order was made banning Howlett from having any contact with the victim.

Kebba Cham, aged 42, has been handed a twelve-month community order with a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement and ten rehabilitation days with probation after admitting theft and possession of an imitation firearm in a public place. In December 2023, Cham was stopped from leaving a toy shop in Wakefield, West Yorkshire after he was seen stealing items. He reacted aggressively, threatening to stab a member of staff. When detained by police officers, an imitation gun was found in his coat pocket.
