A man has been given an absolute discharge after pleading guilty to two charges of possessing a 12-bore shotgun without a licence and one of falsifying a certificate to acquire the same shotgun. In November 2022, the man took a shotgun to be repaired at a gun shop in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. After being told the weapon would not be accepted without paperwork, the man provided an image of someone else’s licence, claiming it covered him. The court heard that the man had held a licence for many years but had forgotten to renew it.

In May 2023, police officers responding to a welfare concern report at an address in Wolverhampton, West Midlands seized a handgun, bullets, a sword and a quantity of drugs from the property. Jordan McLeod, aged 23, has now been jailed for almost nine years in connection with the finds. 

Police officers searching a commercial unit in Dagenham, East London recovered multiple firearms. A man was arrested at the scene in connection with the finds.

Christian Assi, aged 20, has been jailed for eleven years after being found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, with concurrent sentences of five years for grievous bodily harm and 22 months for possession of a shotgun without a certificate. In May 2022, Assi drove a car in pursuit of a moped rider before forcing him to crash in Brixton, South London. Assi then jumped out of the car and shot the teenage male in the arm with a shotgun. The victim required surgery for his injuries. CCTV showed Assi running from the scene before handing the firearm to another man, who took it into a block of flats. Assi was arrested the following month after clothing worn during the shooting was found at his home.

A man suffered a minor injury after a shot was fired at the door of a house in Stirling, Central Scotland. No arrests have yet been reported.

Police officers on routine patrol in Ilford, East London arrested three suspects for offences including possession of a firearm, possession of Class B drug and theft of a motor vehicle. Click on media link to read full report.

A “disturbed man” reportedly pulled a firearm after being located by police officers in Malvern, Worcestershire. The man fled from the scene but was later arrested by firearms officers.

Police officers safely recovered a firearm found at a business park in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire. The weapon will be forensically examined to see if it has links to any previous crimes.

After reportedly firing a BB gun at a shopping centre in Bristol, a group of boys allegedly shot at three teenage girls in the city. Two of the girls attended hospital for treatment for pellet wounds. The boys went on to reportedly fire the gun at a convenience shop before being arrested. The weapon has not been recovered.

Liam Bull, aged 26, has been jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a bladed article in a public place. After he was pulled over for running a red light in Southampton, Hampshire, police officers found an air pistol in the glove box of Bull’s car. Bull claimed to have the weapon for shooting rats on farmland.
