After a gun was fired on a street in Preston, Lancashire, police arrested a man on suspicion of possession of a firearm. No injuries have been reported.

Three men have been charged with preparing an act of terrorism after police discovered they had reportedly been planning to attack targets including an Islamic centre using a 3D-printed firearm. Counter-terrorism officers searched properties linked to the men in Cannock, Derby and Wakefield, West Yorkshire and recovered a 3D-printed FGC-9 semi-automatic firearm, a 3D printer and instructions on how to make 3D-printed firearms. Other items found included knives, a crossbow, and neo-Nazi and other allegedly far-right materials. The men have been remanded in custody.

Armed police officers were deployed following a concern for the welfare of a man in Sunningdale, Berkshire. The man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after being found with a gun.

Armed police officers responded to a report of a man with a firearm at an address in Aldershot, Hampshire. After closing the road and surrounding the property, officers arrested the man on suspicion of making threats to kill and possessing a firearm.

Kyle Meighan, 31, Aiden Broadhurst, 29, and Jieh Sufyaan, 25, have each been jailed for 32 years after being found guilty of attempted murder. In March 2023, Meighan fired a converted blank-firing pistol at a teenage boy in Eccles, Greater Manchester as part of ongoing “hostilities” between two rival groups. The youth suffered a collapsed lung. Sufyaan sourced the gun and Broadhurst drove Meighan to the scene on a motorbike. Following the shooting, the three men went clay pigeon shooting in an effort to explain any gunshot residue. On sentencing, the judge described the crime as a “joint offence” for which all three were “equally culpable”.

Armed police officers were deployed following reports of a man with a firearm at a shop in Falkirk, Stirlingshire. The officers recovered a BB gun and arrested the suspect at the scene.

James Gould, aged 34, has been jailed for 26 months for possessing an imitation firearm, causing significant fear of violence, affray and two charges of criminal damage. In December 2023, after rowing with his partner, Gould “binged” on alcohol and Diazepam before barricading himself in an upstairs room. After his partner called police to report fears for his safety, officers attended their home in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, only to see Gould at a window, goading them to shoot him. Gould then fired a BB gun at officers and a negotiator several times while sitting on the window ledge and made slitting throat gestures with his hands. He was eventually Tasered and arrested.

Police officers responded to reports of an altercation between two men in Burringham, Lincolnshire, one of whom was thought to be carrying a gun. A man has since been charged with offences including possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a firearm by persons prohibited and possession of ammunition without a certificate.

Dale Henderson, aged 58, has been ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work, attend rehabilitation and pay £259 in court and victim charges after pleading guilty to possession of an imitation firearm and possession of an offensive weapon. In December 2022, Henderson threatened people with a knife in the garden of a bar in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Responding police officers found an imitation pistol in the waistband of Henderson's clothes. A number of large swords, a zombie knife and military paraphernalia were subsequently found at his home address.
