After a cat was taken to a vet with an infection, it was discovered she had been shot with a BB gun and had been left with a pellet embedded in her head. Police have appealed for information, saying the pet was shot in Scourie, Scottish Highlands between the 8th and 12th of February.

A man allegedly assaulted a woman and stole her car from a car park in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, before crashing the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Police officers found him nearby and Tasered him after he became violent.

Reece Martin and Anthony Milton, both 19, have been jailed for twelve years with an additional five years on licence after admitting possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. In October 2023, the two men travelled on a stolen motorbike to a house in Liverpool, Merseyside before firing five shots from a Glock pistol towards the property. One bullet entered a bedroom where a man was in bed. The man's mother, sleeping in another room, shouted at him to stay down after hearing loud bangs and the sound of glass smashing. The court heard that the shooting was linked to a knife attack on a person who worked at a pub owned by a member of the family targeted.

Jordan Wheater, aged 27, has been jailed for five years and four months after pleading guilty to offences including possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of a firearm in a public place. The sentence came as a result of homemade firearms and ammunition being recovered in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire throughout 2023.

A teenage boy allegedly pointed an imitation gun at a taxi driver in Windsor, Berkshire when it was time to pay for his journey. When arrested shortly afterwards, police officers recovered a replica handgun, a Taser and a Molotov cocktail from his backpack. He has since been charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm and wearing disguise with intent, as well as offences related to possession of incendiary material arson, possession of explosives and a prohibited weapon, and failing to comply with the release order.

Police officers arrested two men on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of a firearm after they allegedly twice fired a gun towards a property in Bolton, Greater Manchester. Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack.

Peter Riley, aged 51, has been jailed for 30 years after pleading guilty to offences including conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, conspiracy to sell prohibited ammunition and conspiracy to sell prohibited weapons. After the criminal messaging network, EncroChat, was decrypted in 2020, messages on Riley’s phone revealed that he was involved in sourcing and supplying firearms, ammunition and “industrial quantities” of drugs. He was arrested in Darlington, Co.Durham in May 2020. Following sentencing a police spokesperson said, “Riley is a very dangerous man who cared only about making vast amounts of money through the supply of illegal firearms, ammunition, and drugs. He did not give a second thought to how lethal these commodities were or the devastating consequences they could have on the communities of County Durham and Darlington.”

Stephen Howard, aged 19, has been sent to a young offenders’ institution for five years after admitting possessing a prohibited firearm. In July 2023, police officers searched Howard's home in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire and found cannabis plants, a sawn-off shotgun in a kitchen cupboard and a large knife in a backpack in his bedroom. Howard also received a one-year concurrent sentence for cannabis supply.
