The Infer Trust makes every effort to record and categorise the firearms incidents reported in the UK but we recognise that it is not a complete record.

A man was shot near the train station in Wilshaw, Lanarkshire. He was treated in hospital for his injuries and was reported to be in 'a stable condition'. Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A person risked being injured after they walked into the line of fire of shooters during a competition in Selkirk, Scottish Borders. A spokesman from the rifle club who organised the Hogg Cup warned the public that, “The bullets from these rifles do not stop when they hit the paper... They continue into the hillside which you are about to walk on.”

Ben Ashley has been jailed for 5 years after officers found a loaded gun on a shelf in the living room of his home in Edmonton, north London. Ashley did not have a certificate for the weapon or the 11 rounds of ammunition found with it and was also found in possession of a stolen passport.

Javid Sadiq has been jailed for 5 years for three sexual offences and for possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The 27-year-old had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl which culminated in an attempt to hang himself with washing line in front of the victim. Sadiq later threatened to shoot a gamekeeper with an air rifle who discovered him poaching.

Matthew Dolling was given an 18-week suspended sentence conditional on spending 6 months in drug rehabilitation and under supervision, and doing 120 hours unpaid work for possession of cannabis and a taser gun. These were discovered after police stopped Dolling and searched his car and home in York. He was not required to serve a previously suspended 12-week sentence for drug offences.

George Aldersley, 69, was ordered to pay £500 costs and £350 compensation and to do 150 hours of unpaid work after pleading guilty to having an airgun in public in Warlingham, Surrey. He swore at his neighbour and pointed the weapon at her rottweiler after the animal attacked his own pet dog causing it a leg injury and a tail injury requiring amputation. Aldersley, who held a full shotgun licence, was arrested at his by home armed officers after the victim called police.

Murray Gracie, 18, has been sent to a secure hospital after pleading guilty to assault and firearms offences on the grounds of diminished responsibility. Gracie, who had previously talked of shooting police, shot his friend with a sawn-off shotgun outside the home where the victim's family were asleep in Carluke, Lanarkshire. He then shot a window, hitting his ex-girlfriend with the broken glass, before threatening police with the weapon during a car chase. The victim was treated in hospital for 22 pellet wounds in his back.

Three men have attacked a teenage couple with a gun in Bury, Greater Manchester. One of the group pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the male victim's head and asked for money before hitting him in the head with the weapon. The men then beat up the 18- and 16-year-old before escaping on foot. Police are investigating whether this incident is connected to an attack on two women by an armed group in the area the following day.

Two women were robbed at gunpoint in Bury, Greater Manchester. The victims were attacked from behind by a group who held what was believed to be a handgun to one woman's head and stole her handbag before escaping on foot. Police are investigating whether this incident is connected to an attack on a couple by an armed group in the area the previous day.

Six members of staff at a jeweller's in a busy shopping centre in Broadstone, Dorset were threatened by armed robbers. A group wearing balaclavas and armed with a gun smashed display cabinets with two hammers and fled with jewellery. Police believe that four people conducted the raid but that five people left the scene in a getaway car, which was abandoned when the group transferred to another vehicle. Staff were shaken but unhurt.
