A two-year-old cat was shot in the face with an airgun near her home in Draycott, Derbyshire. The pellet lodged in her eye socket and left her eyeball hanging out, and so she required emergency surgery to remove this. The shooting follows two other cat shootings in the village in the past year.

A cat has been shot through the neck with a pellet gun on a road in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. The pellet embedded in her throat and snagged her collar in her neck, causing her breathing difficulties, and she had to undergo an operation to remove it.

Andrew Flint and Paul Wiggins have been jailed for three years and ten months and 12 years respectively for their part in the attempted kidnap of a man at gunpoint on a street in Birmingham, West Midlands. The brothers and six other men, some with covered faces, blocked in the victim in his car using their vehicles and pointed two guns at him. The assailants then ordered him into their vehicle, saying that they were police officers and telling each other to "shoot him". The victim ran to a nearby house and called the police, but the men made threatening calls and sent texts to his family telling them he owed £200,000, even saying to his brother-in-law that ‘‘you and your wife and kids are dead.’’ Flint and Wiggins were tracked down after they were linked to one of their hired vehicles by Wiggins' mobile number, but the other attackers have not yet been traced.

Nicholas Merrill has been ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work and to pay £85 costs with a £60 victim surcharge after pleading guilty to having a BB gun in Pitstone, Buckinghamshire. He was arrested for possessing the metallic imitation firearm in public.

A 19-year-old man was fatally shot on an estate in Battersea, south London. He walked a short distance after being shot but collapsed and a passer-by was threatened with a gun while attempting to perform CPR on the victim. Emergency services attended, but the teenager died at the scene. No one has been arrested.

A man and a woman were attacked by three men with a gun during a robbery at their home in Manchester while their children were also in the house. The masked trio kicked and hit down the door, smashing the glass, and pointed a gun at the female victim before escaping with her husband's £6,500 watch. The woman sustained a cut injury from the broken glass.

Staff were threatened by a man with what appeared to be a handgun during the robbery of a bank in Liverpool, Merseyside. He brandished the gun and demanded money before fleeing on foot with a large amount of cash. The victims were left in shock but no one was hurt.

A group of children discovered a plastic bag containing a gun and ammunition while playing in Walsall, West Midlands. The bag had been hidden in some bushes in a wooded area and has been sent to the National Ballistics Intelligence Service (NABIS) for analysis.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after UK Border Force agents intercepted a handgun that was being imported into the country from the USA. The teenager is suspected of having ordered the firearm to an address in Formby, Merseyside.

A cat has died after she was shot three times with an air rifle in an attack in Ipswich, Suffolk. The seven-year-old survived the attacked but one of the pellets fractured her spine, leaving her paralysed, and she had to be put down.
