A business, AH Griffiths Ltd of Leintwardine, Herefordshire, has been fined £2,000 after director, Alan Griffiths, entered guilty pleas to three charges: contravening the provision of an EU regulation relating to pain, distress and suffering at the time of killing an animal; contravening the provision of an EU regulation at the time of killing an animal; and failing to ensure an instrument, equipment or installation at a slaughterhouse facilitated rapid, effective stunning or killing. The charges came after a cow was shot in the head twice using the wrong cartridge in a bolt gun in February 2023. The cartridges were not strong enough to stun the cow and standard operating procedures were not followed.

After a man allegedly threatened to kill another man during a row over the purchase of a car in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, police officers stopped a vehicle and recovered an air rifle. The three male occupants were all arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and firearm offences.

An unknown assailant allegedly fired a ball bearing at the driver's window of a gritting vehicle in Bucks Horn Oak, Hampshire. The driver was not harmed. Police believe the pellet was fired from a passing vehicle.

Police officers responded following reports of a gunshot incident on a road in Birmingham, West Midlands. A man was treated at the scene for injuries to his back before being taken to hospital. Detectives appealed for information, confirming that they are looking for two offenders.

Chase Griffith, aged 22, has been jailed for 30 years after being found guilty of murder. In July 2022, Griffith shot a man on a street in Waltham Forest, North London, whom he believed was responsible for a stabbing. The victim died in hospital shortly afterwards of a single gunshot wound to the chest. Griffith fled to St Lucia a few days later, from where he was extradited to stand trial.
