A man has been charged with having a Tokarev Zastava Arms model M57 self-loading pistol and 23 rounds of ammunition in Hackney, North London between Feb 19 and March 21 last year. Click on media link to read full report.

Five teenage boys allegedly threatened three other boys with an imitation firearm in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, before stealing a coat containing a bank card from one of them. The youths, arrested by British Transport Police officers shortly afterwards on a train in Peterborough, were subsequently charged with two counts of robbery, attempted robbery, possession of an imitation firearm and having an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

After arresting a man in connection with a fraud investigation at a property in Bury, Greater Manchester, police officers recovered a prohibited gun from the house. The man was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm.

A man was treated in hospital for gunshot wounds to his shoulder and leg after he was shot in his car on a busy road in Birmingham, West Midlands. The victim's injuries are not thought to be life threatening. No arrests have yet been reported.

Dominic Hodges, aged 25, has been jailed for nine years after being convicted of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, violent disorder and wounding. During a disturbance in June 2022, Hodges fired a handgun several times at a group of men outside a pub in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. No one was injured. Hodges fled from the scene but was identified through a witness appeal and CCTV footage.

Damien O’Brien, aged 45, has been jailed for five years after admitting possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of ammunition and two counts of possessing bladed articles. In October 2023, O’Brien approach a car in Leeds, West Yorkshire, believing it to be occupied by drug dealers. In fact, there were two police officers in the vehicle who stopped O’Brien as he walked away, realising his mistake. O’Brien was found to be carrying two knives and, during the subsequent search of his home address, officers seized a machete, balaclava, a loaded Slovakian-made Grand Power pistol and a magazine filled with bullets. The pistol was ready to be fired with the safety catch off. O’Brien told police that dealers had forced him to store the gun.

After arresting a man on a street in Bury, Greater Manchester, police officers recovered a prohibited gun from a nearby property. The man has since been charged with possession of a firearm.

David Huber, aged 60, has been given a two-year community order after admitting possessing a prohibited weapon (a stun gun), possessing a knife in a public place, possessing an offensive weapon and three counts of possessing ammunition for a firearm without a certificate. In May 2023, Huber threw shotgun cartridges through the gates of Buckingham Palace in Central London. A cordon was put up and a controlled explosion was carried out following the incident. The court heard that Huber, who suffers from bipolar disorder, had gone to London believing the Royal Family could help with a business dispute.

A teenage male allegedly fired shots from a car that was later crashed and abandoned in Wednesbury, West Midlands. No one was injured. The youth has since been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
