After a driver reported having a gun pointed at them on a motorway, armed police officers stopped two men dressed as cowboys in Winchester, Hampshire and recovered four imitation firearms. The men, who claimed to have been filming a music video, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Armed police officers were deployed following reports of shots being fired and offenders trying to force entry to a property in Liverpool, Merseyside. One man was treated at the scene for a minor foot injury. No arrests have yet been reported.

A man was treated in hospital for serious injuries after he was shot in Newham, East London. His condition is not thought to be life threatening. A man has since been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

After staff at an RSPCA branch in Godshill, Isle of Wight found a lump in a stray cat’s stomach, a vet removed an air pellet. It is not known when the cat was shot.

Armed police officers stopped a car in Birmingham, West Midlands and recovered more than £100,000, a revolver loaded with three rounds, a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing nine rounds, and a shotgun. The officers Tasered the driver as he tried to flee from the scene. Two men and a teenage boy have since been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

Police officers carrying out a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at a property in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire recovered weapons and cannabis. A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of producing a controlled Class B drug, possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

Lee Guyett, aged 40, has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and two counts of racially/religiously aggravated fear/provocation of violence by words/writing. In July 2023, Guyett pointed a handgun wrapped in a plastic bag at a man who was looking for a stolen motorbike in Bracknell, Berkshire. Guyett also racially abused officers after being arrested by armed police.

A school in Barton Seagrave, Northamptonshire was placed in lockdown after a man was seen reportedly brandishing a gun nearby. Police officers attended and found a man with a toy gun.
