A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder of two men in Kensington, Liverpool, in 2008 (see Incidents). One of the men was shot with a revolver in a flat in June, the other was shot by a man in camouflage in his living room in July. The defendant is charged with two offences of attempted murder, two of wounding with intent and two of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger. James Gilmore has been convicted and will serve a minimum of 15 years before being considered for release (Liverpool Echo, 27 April 2010).

A cat is recovering after finding its way home having been shot and missing for four days. The pet was shot with a pellet gun or an air weapon in Corby, Northamptonshire. An RSPCA inspector said it was lucky she was not more seriously injured.

A man spotted carrying an air weapon in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, was arrested and cautioned for being in possession of the weapon in a public place. He told officers he was using it to fire at tin cans for target practice.

Four men have been jailed for between six and eight years for their part in a series of raids on stores in Birmingham, Quinton, Handsworth and Hamstead in the West Midlands between January and May 2008. One supermarket was raided three times and another twice. In each case the robbers were armed with a stun gun, hammers and knives. Jahmine Lee, Andrew Lee and Patrick Green pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob. Nyah Williams was found guilty of robbery at a fast food restaurant in Telford, Shropshire, as were two other men Ojay Miller, 19, and Valtie Dixon who await sentencing.

Stuart McNeill pointed an imitation sawn-off shotgun at a police officer when police brought his son home to their house in Kirkliston, Edinburgh, in April 2010. He had been drinking at the time. He claimed he regularly used it to frighten his son but would never have pointed a gun at a police officer. He admitted assaulting the officer by presenting an imitation firearm at him. He was jailed for eight months.

A cat from Forres, Morayshire, has been maimed for life after an air rifle pellet shattered his left foreleg.

East Anglian Daily Times, 19 November 2010 Two men escaped with a day's takings from a shop in Trimley St Mary, Suffolk, after threatening the staff. One of the men claimed to have a gun in a bag he was carrying.

Following reports of suspicious activity in Birmingham, West Midlands, police officers discovered a sawn-off shotgun, gun cartridges and a quantity of drugs. Four men have since been arrested on charges including conspiracy to possess a sawn-off shotgun, possession of a bladed article, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and production of cannabis.
