A man was arrested in Bridgwater after police received reports that a man was being threatened with a handgun. Armed officer who arrested the man seized an imitation firearm.

Four people have been charged with firearms offences following police raids in Greater Manchester. Three guns were seized. A man and a woman from Bury have been charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition, a man from Flixton was charged with two counts of possessing a firearm and two of possessing ammunition and the fourth man from Old Trafford was charged with possessing a firearm, a firearm component and ammunition.

Armed police were called to Conisbrough after three boys were spotted by a member of the public with a silver gun with a 'laser pointer'. The weapon was found dumped in a nearby garden and identified as a ball-bearing gun. The youths, aged between 11 and 13, were taken home and police advised their parents about carrying an imitation weapon in the street.

An entire gun cabinet has been stolen from a house in Kingerby in Lincolnshire. The cabinet contained two double barrel shotguns, a single barrel shotgun and cartridges. An amount of cash was also taken.

Police were called to three separate shootings across Manchester within the space of a few hours. No one was hurt in the incidents which happened in Moss Side, Burnage and Gorton. The incidents are not believed to be linked.

Two men are standing trial accused of forcing a prostitute to commit sex acts on them at gunpoint. The crime took place in Aberdeen in September 2007. The accused men deny sexually assaulting the woman, presenting a gun at her and placing her in a state of fear of alarm. One of them also denies a charge of robbing the woman at gunpoint.

A trial is taking place of four men charged with being involved in a conspiracy to kidnap another man in early 2004 and conspiracy to blackmail the victim's brother of £25,000. The gang had kidnapped the victim at gunpoint at Seaton Carew, County Durham.
