Police found a stash of guns and rounds of ammunition during a raid on a flat in south Kilburn, north west London. They discovered a sawn-off shotgun, three pistols and more than 20 rounds of ammunition. A man was arrested.

Farhan Syed and Mohammed Syed from Simonstone, Lancashire have admitted affray after attacking a vehicle in which a former business associate was travelling with his two young children. Allegations of making a threat to kill and possessing an imitation firearm were left to lie on the file (Lancashire Telegraph, 5 December 2010). They were given sentences of 15 months and 12 months, respectively (Burnley Express, 8 December 2010.

A 17-year-old suffered a fatal gunshot wound during a disturbance in Mill Hill, north west London. The police are investigating if the boy died in a planned fight between rival gangs. A man has been charged with murder and ten teenage males and a woman have been arrested in connection with the shooting (BBC, 31 October 2010). Four young men have been charged with murder (BBC, 21 January 2011).

David Gallagher shot a woman in the throat in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, in October 2009 when he fired an air rifle. The Crown accepted that the incident, which could have had fatal consequences, was an accident. Gallagher admitted culpably and recklessly discharging a firearm. He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the community.

A man is in a life-threatening condition after being shot. He arrived at a hospital in Waltham Forest, north east London, but it was not known where the shooting happened. The victim was described as being “uncooperative”. A shotgun has been recovered. It was later reported that he was probably hit in a street in Walthamstow where several loud bangs were heard.

Lorenzo Mason has been sentenced to five years after raiding a bookmakers in Levenshulme, Manchester, in June 2010. He pointed a gun at the cashier and was caught on CCTV. He had handed himself into the police under pressure from his mother and pleaded guilty to robbery and possessing of an imitation firearm (Manchester Evening News, 27 October 2010).
