Police resorted to stunning a rottweiler dog with a taser gun in Somerset after an officer feared he was going to be attacked. Police had received reports of the dog behaving threateningly and arrested its owner, Eddie Anderson, for owning a dog which was dangerously out of control. The 18-year-old owner pleaded guilty and he was fined and ordered to have the dog neutered.

A gang of five teenagers aged 13 to 18 have been jailed after committing a series of armed robberies in Liverpool. Ringleader Bradley Beveridge, 18, was jailed indefinitely, and the judge lifted the anonymity restrictions for the four younger culprits. Declan Kilbride, 16, was sentenced to nine years in prison; Declan Culshaw, 15, was given five years; Dylan Currie, 14, received six years; and Jobe Kilbride, 13, received four years. The quintet terrorised shopkeepers and taxi drivers in April and May, threatening each with a shotgun and stealing cash and cigarettes. They also shot one person who attempted to resist, leaving their victim with minor injuries.

Joseph Hurd, 21, has been jailed for 18 months after robbing a shop in Bournemouth in March. Hurd pretended to have a gun in the incident, threatening the shopkeeper and demanded cigarettes. He also pleaded guilty to other offences earlier this year, including assaulting a police officer, criminal damage, damage to a motor vehicle, taking a motor vehicle without consent and driving while disqualified.

Karl Elsworth, 18, has been sentenced to nine months in prison and 80 hours of unpaid community work for possessing a taser gun and cannabis in Carlisle. Police reportedly searched Elsworth's home on suspicion of finding drugs, then recovered the powerful stun gun, which fires 50,000 volts -- equal to the taser weapons that British police carry.

Steven Salt, 18, has been sentenced to an 18-week prison sentence and 100 hours of unpaid community work after he shot a pigeon in a park in Staffordshire for a meal. The homeless 18-year-old shot the bird twice with a loaded air weapon before police responded to an alarm raised by a member of the public. Salt admitted possession of a loaded air weapon and shooting the gun in a public park.

A man killed himself in South Wootton, Norfolk. He reportedly shot himself in the chest with a shotgun he legally owned, having held a shotgun license since 2006.

Pupils at a primary school were shot by a BB gun in Newbury, West Berkshire. A 13-year-old boy reportedly was responsible for the shooting, in which the children were hit by plastic pellets. The school's head teacher said the children were not injured in the incident.

Police recovered a petrol bomb and an imitation firearm during a drugs raid in Sandwell, West Midlands. Officers arrested three men and one woman on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. No charges related to the weapons were reported.

A man and a woman in Huddersfield were arrested and charged with possession of two firearms without authorisation, possession of a taser gun and possession of drugs. The pair were reportedly given conditional bail, provided they do not have contact with one another.

Two armed men robbed a store in Harehills, Leeds, striking the owner on the head as he refused to hand over money. The victim apparently struggled with the gunman after being struck on the head with what appeared to be shotgun, and the robbers fled. The pair are reported to have held up another business earlier the same day, also being foiled as the staff member they threatened escaped to a storeroom.
