A narrative verdict of "sudden and unexpected death following a struggle against restraint which included the use of a Taser in a man with a history of schizophrenia and who had taken amphetamines and cannabis," was recorded at the inquest into the death of Matthew Williams. Police were called to a hotel in Argoed, Flintshire following Mr Williams’ attack on a woman there. Mr Williams was handcuffed and strapped down, and a police Taser was discharged four times during the struggle. Mr Williams died after becoming unconscious and receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation. |
