After he was seen reportedly carrying a gun in Kilburn, North London, a man fled in a car, only to crash moments later. The suspect was arrested for driving and firearm offences.

Police have issued a description of a man who stopped his e-bike alongside a driver and allegedly pointed a gun at him at traffic lights in Reading, Berkshire. Police have appealed for information, particularly from anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage.

Police officers Tasered and arrested a man on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon, affray and theft following reports of him acting aggressively and damaging items in a shop in Westhoughton, Greater Manchester. Witnesses reported that the man had a delusion that “someone was out to kill him”.

Scott Fitzgerald, aged 34, has been jailed for six-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to drug and firearm offences. In March 2022, after police witnessed Fitzgerald and another man conducting a drugs handover, officers discovered Fitzgerald hiding in a wardrobe at his home in Glasgow, Scotland. Cocaine and heroin worth over £100,000 were recovered from the property along with a sawn-off shotgun and cannisters of pepper spray.

Three people, arrested after the criminal messaging network, EncroChat, was decrypted in 2020, have been sentenced: Michael Earp, 32, received 26 years after being found guilty of conspiracy to supply cocaine, conspiracy to supply heroin, two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and two counts of possession of prohibited ammunition; Daniel Aziz, 29, was jailed for 33 years for the same offences, as well as money laundering and an additional count of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life; and Nicole Rhone,29, received five years for possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of prohibited ammunition. Earp and Aziz were part of a group that used EncroChat to deal heroin and cocaine worth around £2.5 million, while Aziz used the network to discuss using firearms against customers who owed money. Investigating police officers discovered that the gang had access to three pistols stored at a rented flat and found a loaded Skorpion firearm and ammunition under a bed at Rhone’s home in Birmingham, West Midlands. Rhone, who is Earp’s cousin, slept on the bed with her young son. On sentencing, the judge said, “Possession of a loaded machine pistol is an offence of enormous danger. It has a very high rate of fire and a much larger magazine and would likely lead to the injury of people who have nothing to do with the drugs trade.”

A girl suffered a cut to the leg after being shot with a BB gun while at school in South Moor, Co. Durham. Police believe the gun was fired from outside the school premises. Officers subsequently interviewed a youth and seized two BB guns and pellets.

Two teenagers have been handed youth referral orders after pleading guilty to drug offences, while one also admitted possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear and, the other, possession of a bladed article. In July 2023, the youths armed themselves with a machete and a BB gun and drove from Swansea to Birmingham, West Midlands with quantities of heroin and cocaine. After a contact in the city refused to pay for a hotel room for them, they held him hostage for more than seven hours and threatened him with the weapons. The victim managed to quietly call police and officers arrested the offenders nearby. On sentencing, the judge said that both teenagers were “classic victims of the county lines method of dealing in Class A drugs” and were being exploited.
