Kieran Kenny, aged 39, has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to being drunk in possession of a loaded firearm, possessing ammunition for a firearm without a certificate, possessing a prohibited firearm and five counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. In September 2022, emergency personnel responded after Kenny was found injured on a street in Stainforth, South Yorkshire. Armed police officers were called in after a paramedic found a handgun and a separate magazine stuffed into one of Kenny’s socks. When asked if the gun was viable, Kenny admitted he had "activated it” himself. Officers subsequently recovered 44 weapons, including machetes and swords, from Kenny’s home address.

Daniel Young, aged 38, has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to possessing a Class A drug, possessing a firearm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and handling stolen goods. In July 2023, Young got into a struggle with a man in Leeds, West Yorkshire after demanding cash from him and reaching for a firearm. Young was eventually restrained by a member of the public. The court heard that Young had previously stolen two passports from the same victim's car and attempted to extort money from him for their return. The imitation firearm used in the attack had been modified to be capable of firing projectiles.

Denzel Edwards, aged 20, has been jailed for 180 days for possession of a firearm and a knife. In October 2023, Edwards was seen carrying an imitation black handgun and waving a kitchen knife at a shopping centre in Chatham, Kent. Upon his arrest, Edwards told police officers he was carrying the weapons for protection because he was being bullied. His conviction activated a previous suspended sentence of 120 days.

In a week of action designed to disrupt county lines drug supply in Leicestershire, police officers recovered weapons, including machetes, knives, knuckle dusters, air rifles, a Taser and a blank-firing pistol, as well as over £22,000 in cash and more than £120,000 worth of drugs. In addition, twenty people, whose homes were suspected of being cuckooed, were safeguarded.

Armed police officers were deployed following reports of a man seen with a handgun in Coleford, Gloucestershire. Following a search, officers seized a BB gun and arrested a man on suspicion of a firearm offence and possession of Class A drugs.
