During a raid at a property in Strood, Kent, police officers discovered more than half a kilogram of cocaine in an extractor fan. They also recovered a quantity of cannabis and a can of CS gas. A man has since been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Armed police officers responded after a man allegedly robbed a petrol station in Lamerton, Devon while armed with an imitation gun and a knife. A force helicopter helped locate the man in a nearby field and he has since been charged with robbery, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a bladed article.

John Barton, 48, and Daniel Rushworth, 33, have been jailed for twenty-one years and sixteen years, four months, respectively, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply drugs and conspiracy to supply a firearm. Rushworth also admitted money laundering. The two men used the criminal messaging network, Encrochat, to deal drugs, while Barton also used the platform to offer Rushworth a Walther PKK semi-automatic pistol for sale. Following his arrest, police officers discovered a secret room hidden behind a mirror at Rushworth’s house in Bootle, Merseyside, which contained drugs, nearly £100,000 in cash and a cash counter. Encrochat was decrypted in 2020.

As part of an operation designed to counteract serious and organised crime offences, police officers stopped a car on the M40 near Warwick, Warwickshire and recovered a pistol and ammunition from the vehicle. Two men have since been charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

It has emerged that, in May 2023, an air rifle was reportedly fired at a person in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. Police have now arrested two men on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.
