Summary:

Peter Dunbar, aged 29, was fined £200 after he breached the 2015 Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015. While driving from his home in Manchester to visit his family in Aberdeenshire in August this year, Dunbar stopped off in Montrose, Angus. When police approached his parked car, Dunbar admitted to them that there were three air weapons and ammunition in the boot of the vehicle. The court heard that Dunbar was a target shooter and had no requirement for a licence in England. The Sheriff ordered the forfeiture of the weapons, remarking that not being aware of the law was “not an excuse but an explanation”.
