After police officers stopped a car in Liverpool, Merseyside, one of the occupants attempted to run away, reportedly throwing away a loaded gun as he did so. The man and three others were quickly detained, all four being subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. A witness said that three police cars and a police van with dogs had been used to block the vehicle in before the arrests were made.
