A 14-year-old boy has died after being shot in the back of his head with a shotgun in Forest Gate, East London. A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured in the same attack. The teenagers were part of a group of friends believed to have been targeted by a rival gang in retaliation for a stabbing. A lone gunman is thought to have approached them from behind in an alley. Both boys were taken to hospital and the younger teenager died after his family made the heart-breaking decision to switch off his life-support machine. A police spokesperson said that extra officers would be on duty in the borough due to fears of a revenge attack and they would be authorised to use stop and search tactics. |
