Mark Hughes, 33, has been jailed for 3 years, 4 months after pleading guilty to possessing a sawn-off shotgun, 19 cartridges and a stun-gun. Hughes accidentally discharged the shotgun at his home in Buckley, Flintshire, seriously injuring his foot. The judge accepted that Hughes was depressed and wanted to take his own life, but believed he was looking after the firearm for a third party. Firearms officers found cocaine and cannabis at his residence. Hughes’ sentence was reduced due to the exceptional circumstances.
